Facebook Live Eating Habits Chat
How do you feel about your eating habits? Could they be better?
Recently, after a workout in the park with my personal trainer, Gail Williams of Simply Fitness, Kelly and I were discussing how people struggle with eating.
Our assessment was, people struggle because we LOVE to eat.
Everybody loves to eat. Here is the deal: Bad eating habits don't need to follow.
Kelly had made some great points in our discussion. Because of the questions I receive asking how I lost 75 pounds in a year, I felt what we discussed was worth sharing.
That is when I came up with a great idea – if I may say so myself.

Pam and Kelly Talk Eating Habits
Sitting on our new couch, occasionally sipping on some Dunkin Donuts coffee, we talk about eating habits.
You will hear us talking to others. That is because the video was live.
We have a lot of fun as we stress giving consideration to what you eat and how much of it you eat.

Here is what we cover:
- Eating junk – We both like our junk. In the video we talk about how we handle our favorite indulgences.
- Working out to allow you to eat – Some people like to reward themselves with eating by working out. We talk about why that ideology works against you.
- Mindfulness – A few times we talk about being mindful of what you are eating and how much you are eating.
- Deprivation – Living a healthy lifestyle, even to lose weight, does not require deprivation. We talk about deprivation not being an eating habit.
- Genetic makeup – Genes, genes, those dang genes. I mention my family having the fat gene and an addiction to bread. What you got away with at 20 is probably not going to work so well for you past your 30s. Be mindful! Kelly discusses genes and the next topic.
- Weight set point – Let's assume you are eating healthy. If you ever wondered why you are eating healthy and working out, but are progressing slowly with weight loss, Kelly has an idea as to what may be happening. She also suggests what you can do about it. Mindful comes up again.
- Water – By far the best defense against eating too much.
- The “M” word: Moderation: – Are you drowning your food in butter and cheese? That is not moderation. Moderation is key to weight loss and weight loss maintenance. The not so good stuff cannot be the mainstay in your diet. I will do a post on moderation in the future.
- Losing the affinity for certain foods – It is possible to lose the desire for certain foods. I got a bit distracted talking about my reaction to fried food.
- Portion size – No one should be eating all they can eat. Learn my portion size tips. Deprivation is mentioned here as well. I think Kelly may have chili cheese fries in the very near future. lol Watch the video and tell me if you think so too.
- Clean your plate – That is a lie!! Stop that. We rounded back to portion sizes again. Listen closely, I seem to slap my leg a lot.
- Lose weight without trying – That is what happened to Kelly because of the changes we made for me. The other “M” word it comes up again: Be Mindful!
