Fight Through Your Struggles
After reading this post, check out the previous post. You discover how to fight through your struggles, get positive results, and stay connected to your achievements.
But before getting to that point I went through a rough patch. I struggled through the end of 2017. In fact, I considered it a bust.
In this post, I go deeper into changes you can make to change a crappy outcome to a more desirable outcome.
Keep Fighting
Where to you begin?
Well first, keep fighting. Persistence shows you have a “I REFUSE TO GIVE UP.” Spirit. No matter how many times you fail, you keep pushing to have a better outcome.
Napoleon Hill said, “Patience, persistence and perspiration make an unbeatable combination for success.”
Remove Distractions
Distractions and negativity are the foundations of inaction.
Think about it.
How much do you accomplish spending time on social media when it has nothing to do with you dreams, goals, or desires?
Time spent starting your day on such vices as Facebook and Twitter are nothing more than distractions. If they are not getting them closer to your goal of desired outcome, leave them for dedicated down time.
Trust me, I know. I wasted plenty of mornings distracted by foolishness. That’s why I did not accomplish enough in 2017.
Therefore, remove the distractions of social media and email. You'll be glad that you did.
Remove Negativity
Not sold yet about the distractions of social media? Perhaps this will help.
I spent more mornings than I should have frustrated by what I was reading and seeing around the country (US) and around The World.
Why?
Because I started my mornings on social media. The alarm would go off and rather than getting up to be productive, I grabbed my phone and want straight to Facebook.
Yes I laughed sometimes from a funny video or something funny a family member or friend posted, but more times than not I started my day pissed off or frustrated.
As a result, my day started off with negativity.
To change outcomes, requires changing what you do.
Start Your Morning with Positivity
Here’s what I am doing differently in 2018 and going forward.
I’ve traded in social media for 5-10 minutes of motivational inspiration.
When the alarm goes off, I say my prayers, head to the kitchen, partake of my morning cocktail (I’ll share that in a future post), grab my phone, head to the bathroom (TMI? I’m sorry, but it is part of the routine), then watch and listen to 5-10 minutes of a motivational video to empower me or give me positive thoughts.
Listening to the inspirational messages is not only a positive experience, but it is also aligns with what I want to achieve.
That 5-10 minutes…
- reminds to set priorities
- that I am in control of my life
- to not give up
- to keep the faith
- how to start my day so I can fulfill my wants and desires.
My morning does not stop there, however. After starting the morning with a cocktail and motivation, I then…
Track and Plan the Day
I have to track and plan the day. Not doing those two important tasks were the final nails in my 2017 coffin.
Here's why I say that.
I lost sight of my goals. Worse yet, at the end of the year, I had no clue what I had accomplished. To be certain that does not happen to you, make planning and tracking your day a priority. You do not have to be perfect with it. Simply start.
Because you remain focused when you plan your day. Also, planning your day minimizes distractions.
And be sure to not overwhelm yourself with too much.
Give yourself no more than three targets to achieve for the day. Align your those targets with your goals and desired outcomes.
It is easy to let other's priorities override your priorities. Therefore, don't forget to check-in with your goals and your target throughout the day.
I’ve taken to using a Best Self Journal. It is taking me some time to get used to the routine, but with consistency I am getting better with planning and tracking my target goals. I am not perfect, but my outcomes are better.
