Why a Gym Alternative?
I was driving when a radio personality on ESPN NY Radio announced that the gyms in Hoboken, NJ were ordered to close. That was on March 14, 2020.
The country of Italy had already taken similar action. In the days that followed, gyms in NJ and around the US did the same.
So now people were self-distancing, doing shelter at home, and without a gym.
Oh My, Your Gym Closed?
I was in good shape. I don't like going to the gym so I workout from my home. But I know people who go to the gym. The gym closures left them, wondering, “Now what do I do?”
Anyone who was just getting into rhythm, gyms closing was even more of a challenge.
I even received an email asking me for advice. So I decided to share some alternatives to the gym. It's an odd place to start, but I'll start with a movement I hate, push-ups.
The Perfect Push-Up
My dog Brooklyn doesn't like it when I do push-ups or any form of exercise for that matter.
To my fur baby, I am in duress and in need of immediate saving. She's on to something because when it comes to a push-up, I DO feel like I'm in duress. That might be why I hate them so much. I'm not sure.
Even though I HATE push-ups, I'm determined to do them. Why is this so important to me?

I've searched YouTube several times to find the best instructional video. Then, without trying YouTube did the work for me. This by far IS the BEST video to show how to a proper push-up...
Like I said, I hate push-ups. But..for a good heart, strong bones, and muscles in my chest, back and arms, the duress is worth. Even if Brooklyn doesn't think so.
