There is No Magic Wand for Weight Loss
Don’t you wish there was a magic wand that you could circle around a couple of times, then POOF! You instantly are at your desired weight with your dream body? We know that is not possible, but everyday people are searching for quick fixes to losing weight rather than taking the time to go through the healthy process of a modified diet and exercise.
I, unfortunately, came upon a show one night where two people were doing exactly that, looking for a quick fix to transform their bodies and to help them lose weight. Their course of action was no magic wand.
Say No to the Body Wrap and Plastic Surgery
Why I was up past 10 pm I cannot recall, but I wish I had gone up to bed so I would have missed the train wreck that was about to happen. When I say train wreck I mean that moment when you see something that you should stop watching, but try as you might, you simply cannot turn away.
As I was finishing up something on my laptop before heading to bed, a show called Atlanta Plastic started to play. I rolled my eyes and I am sure said something along the lines of, “Oh Lord. What is this nonsense?” The television should have gone off then, but the woman on the screen having her arms wrapped stopped me. “Is she wrapping herself in Saran Wrap?!! She was! As I learned later, this is known as a body wrap.
Her body wrap started with her arms, then she added some to her thighs, and finished up what was a daily and bedtime ritual by wrapping her torso. “Why in the world would one wrap their body in Saran Wrap?” I asked out loud. As if on queue, as I said, “Is the Saran Wrap for losing weight? Does she think she can sweat the weight off??!!” the woman said something close to, “I have struggled to lose weight. I wrap myself and go to bed in a body wrap to help me lose weight.” I smacked myself in the head. “Who comes up with this craziness?” I wondered.
Oh, but this body wrap “weight loss” tactic did not end there. The next person we were introduced to was standing in his bedroom having his torso wrapped with Saran Wrap before adding a compression wrap to hide his much despised man-boobs. He too was using this body wrap method to help with his weight loss issues.
Transformation is a Process; Enjoy the Journey
Their magic wand was via plastic surgery after failed attempts, including the use of a body wrap method with Saran Wrap, to lose weight. Such methods concern me. I understand that people suffer with body image issues. I am one of those people. I am here to let you know, however, that the greatest transformation is obtained in the work you put forth to achieve it. You ought not purchase it or expect it to come wrapped with a pretty bow.
I was so upset about the show, the plastic surgery, and the body wrap that after one of my morning workouts I created a video called Public Service Announcement to the Saran Wrap People. In this video I mention what I saw on the show that night as well as other interesting forms of attempts at weight loss that I have seen. Skip directly to minute 2:57 to see what I share as more beneficial to you in comparison to quick fixes (Disclaimer: I attempted to clean up the shakiness of me holding my iPhone, but it was more distracting than the original. Please enjoy the message in spite of the video quality.). For your convenience, here is what I said:
Go out there and get moving.
I understand that we live in a microwave society and everybody wants everything instantly, but here's the deal.
Instantaneous, it does nothing for you.
You don't get the opportunity to talk about your progress with instantaneous.
You don't get to talk about your various challenges when you do the microwave point of work.
Put in the work.
Put in the time.
I guarantee you, you will be more confident, you will feel more empowered, you will have this aura about you.
Why? Because you put in the time and you put in the work (though I said weight).
No Saran Wrap. Just take you and your body and enjoy the process.
Get it DONE!

I share this message because I know from my experience of losing 75 pounds how truly empowering the process can be.
After posting this video on the can.will.DONE Facebook page, a follower shared that she was considering both plastic surgery and a body wrap. As a result of the video, she chose to the process over the quick fix. Which one will you choose?
